Pedestal

Our aim

Who doesn't want to fly once by oneself? We thought exactly that when we were kids and found the Microsoft® Flight Simulator 2002. Many addons and virtual flying lessons later we recognized that our cockpit measuring 15" was too small. So we had the idea to copy an A320 cockpit true to origial.

We started with constructing the standby instruments and the front panel from plywood. The first test was successful so we were assured in our plan to create a homecockpit. Bit by bit small panels followed like autobrake panel and the speakers. Because our expectations were (and are) high but the budget was (and is) low we bought the panels only and produced the rest ourselves. Altes Cockpit This includes the LEDs for illumination, the switches (casted ourselves) and the wireing. What's amost routine now was new to uns that time. Many hints and information can be found in the internet respectively webpages by other homecockpit builders (watch Community >> Cockpitbuilder).

Having that knowledge we started the first bigger project: The glareshield! After we had covered the framework with panels by Cockpitsonic we constructed the Rotary Switches. As the switches have to be push-, pull- and rotatable we planned a machanism that we then implemented. Later several boards followed for the communication of all the switches and the computer.

By now we are building the pedestal-framework. In the end the whole cockpit shall be simulated and a beamer at the top will project the outside view on a spheric screen. Inside you will be able the use almost every function a real A320-200 offers.
