New Webpage

Alte Internetseite

Finally we made it. We succeded in finishing the new webpage - at least the framework. Obviously the content will change every now and then. It took us two month to be more or less satisfied with the content and the style of the new page. However not only the style has changed. The page is now verified according to the XHTML- and CSS-Standards and should show in most browsers nearly as we want it.

Many mistakes we made writing the last homepage habe been corrected now and should no longer occur. For example you can now increase the fontsize without destroying the layout. Additionally it is no longer neccessary to have the Java-Plugin installed to watch the Progress-Page.

We have also changed the structure of the homepage. We removed some items from the menue and sorted them in submenues. Everything that is media content (pictures, videos, texts) can be found in Media now. You can find Infos about the real A320, the progress and the definition of our aim in the Flight Deck section. The item Crew offers Info about the team behind the project and links to other cockpitbuilders, shops and producers are still in the Community section.

We hope visiting our page is now even more fun and we can increase our stream of visitors!

Pedestal under construction

Bild

Finally we were able to start building our Pedestal. After some minor problems with our construction the framework has been finished and is now ready to be extended by a metallic grid on which we will fasten the panels later on.

Bild

After spending much time on research about the dimensions and form of a real A320 Pedestal, we created our first virtual model which, fed with the dimensions, became our basis for construction. Some time later we were finally able to get the material and start working. The wooden framework with a base plate will be extended by a metallc grid. On this grid we will fasten the panels. Of cause we didn't forget the pockets on both sides of the pedestal. Bild

The screw heads will be spackled and the wooden framework will be fully painted in dark blue. To get the Pedestal as real as possible we started to upholster the upper border with black imitation leather, a process which we experianced to be very complex.

You can find pictures of our (not yet finished) Pedestal in the Media-Section under "Pictures"

Pedestal under construction - Light tests

Bild

Just after building the pedestal framesset and mounting the panels we did the first light tests for implementing the integrated lighting.

We used "Super Flux LEDs" and a PWM-Module for that. We made twenty boards with three LEDs connected in series. These boards are connected in parallel to the pulse width modulation. Like this we have the advantage of a supply voltage of 12V. We can save resistors because we need just one resistor per board.

A short video of our tests is available in our media-section under "Videos"
